About this position
Postdoctoral position at Aalborg University in system optimization using digital twins for Power-to-X processes, with a strong focus on electrical engineering, energy-system modelling, and integrated renewable-energy systems.
The project is affiliated with the Pioneer Center for Accelerating P2X Materials Discovery (CAPeX) and the Applied Power Electronic Systems section at AAU Energy. The successful candidate will work on system-level digital-twin frameworks and optimization methods that connect electrolyzer models with renewable generation, power electronic conversion, energy and hydrogen storage, downstream processes, and energy demand. The role is interdisciplinary and involves collaboration with researchers at DTU, University of Toronto, Stanford University, and Utrecht University.
This is a two-year postdoc starting from 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position may include limited teaching and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s students.
Research themes: digital twins, multi-timescale system optimization, energy management, control, mathematical optimization, electrolyzers, hydrogen technologies, renewable integration, storage, power electronics, and Power-to-X systems.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in electrical engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering, control engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, or a closely related field; documented experience in energy-system modelling, optimization, control, or digital twins; strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, or similar tools; and excellent English.
Application: submit the required documents through Aalborg University’s recruitment system. Materials include a motivation/application letter, CV, diplomas, teaching/dissemination documentation if relevant, additional qualifications, and references.
Contact: Frede Blaabjerg (Professor, AAU Energy) is listed for professional questions.
