About this position

Research Fellow (postdoc) opportunity in Morphological Typology at the University of Surrey (Surrey Morphology Group), Guildford, UK.

The position is part of the UKRI FLF project “Scaling predictability in Morphological paradigms”, led by Sacha Beniamine. The successful candidate will work on a key work package focused on macro-variation, helping improve data coverage and study variation in predictability across languages.

Responsibilities include managing and analysing language data, defining a strategic sample of languages, coordinating targeted studies, contributing to comparative research, and helping write and disseminate papers and presentations. The role is embedded in a collaborative and collegial research environment.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in linguistics or a related field, with strong expertise in morphology and typology. Prior postdoctoral experience is expected. Experience in linguistic data management and creation (including lexical resources) is required. Knowledge of the morphology of a specific language or language family is important; experience in Romance linguistics and Romance diachrony is an advantage.
