About this position
The University of Miami is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the DRI-related laboratory research profile in Miami, Florida. The role is based on-site within UHealth–University of Miami Health System, an academic medical center combining patient care, medical education, and research.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct scientific research under supervision while developing a high degree of independence in designing, executing, improving, and interpreting experimental work. The laboratory environment includes routine and advanced biomedical equipment, including centrifuges, shakers, water baths, balances, inverted microscopes, flow cytometers, confocal microscopes, slide scanners, and specialized imaging systems.
Key research activities include cell culture, flow cytometry, imaging studies in human tissue, laboratory methodology development, protocol optimization, experimental data analysis, and the use of image-analysis and flow-cytometry software. The researcher will also contribute to literature reviews, scientific papers, abstracts, presentations, figures, grant-writing support, protocols, standard operating procedures, and accurate electronic and physical laboratory records.
The position involves regular discussion of results in laboratory meetings and individual meetings, collaboration with supervisors and colleagues, and potential training of students in routine or less complex experiments. Training may be provided for new techniques, instrumentation, and specialized software, with the expectation that the postdoctoral associate will progress rapidly toward independent technical proficiency.
