About this position
The Nima Sharifi Laboratory at the University of Miami Desai Sethi Urology Institute is recruiting full-time postdoctoral associates in cancer metabolism, steroid biology, endocrine physiology, genetics, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and related areas.
The laboratory studies the biochemical and molecular mechanisms of androgen synthesis and steroid metabolism that contribute to resistance to hormonal therapy. Research focuses on genitourinary cancers, including prostate and breast cancer, as well as normal physiology, stress, aging, glucocorticoid resistance, and cancer physiology.
Projects may involve identifying metabolic and genetic changes underlying hormone-therapy resistance, discovering new mechanisms of endocrine regulation, validating findings in patients and clinical trials, identifying pharmacologic vulnerabilities, and developing drugs against novel therapeutic targets. The institute provides an opportunity to collaborate with a clinical urology program and translate basic discoveries toward improved patient treatment.
Applicants should hold a PhD and demonstrate a strong interest in mechanistic biological research, biochemistry, metabolism, genetics, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, or related disciplines. Candidates should submit a CV and a summary of research interests by email. The position is based in Miami, Florida, United States, and the closing date is January 30, 2027. Compensation is listed as University of Miami Compensation Grade A9; additional funding details are not provided.
