About this position

The Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University is accepting applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship for the academic year 2027–28.

The fellowship is designed to complement the Spring 2028 Franke Seminar in the Humanities, “Not Made to Scale: Space, Form, Power and the Geohumanities.” The project sits at the intersection of geography, architecture, and the humanities, with strong relevance to environmental studies, architectural history, urban humanities, critical geography, black geographies, and critical race and gender studies.

The fellow will contribute to the Franke Lectures in the Humanities and collaborate with the instructor of the seminar on course design and teaching. The Center welcomes scholars from disciplines including visual studies, literary studies, film and media studies, human geography, social-cultural anthropology, and urban studies.

Funding includes a $70,000 stipend, full benefits, a $2,000 research fund, and reimbursement of moving expenses. The fellow will be in residence at the Whitney Humanities Center in New Haven, Connecticut, for the full academic year beginning August 1, 2027.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. conferred in 2024 or later and must have the degree in hand by August 1, 2027. Applications are submitted online via Interfolio and should include a cover letter, CV, three references, and a writing sample of no more than 25 pages. Review begins on December 14, 2026.
