About this position
Yale University’s Ben Mamoun Laboratory in the Department of Medicine / Infectious Diseases at Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to work on metabolic disorders, coenzyme A (CoA) metabolism, and neurodegeneration.
The project is highly translational and combines neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry, metabolism, human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models, and animal models. The successful candidate will investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying CoA deficiencies and related neurological disease, including inherited disorders such as pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), and will help develop and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies.
Research opportunities may include studying CoA homeostasis and neuronal function, generating and characterizing patient-derived iPSC and neuronal models, testing therapeutic compounds in cellular systems, and conducting preclinical studies in mouse or other animal models. The role also includes molecular, biochemical, imaging, histopathological, and behavioral analyses, as well as manuscript writing and presentation of findings.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field such as neuroscience, neurobiology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolism, pharmacology, or stem cell biology. Strong experience in areas like neurodegenerative disease, iPSC culture and differentiation, neuronal cell models, mouse/rat disease models, behavioral phenotyping, pharmacology, and imaging is especially valuable. The lab is looking for someone with a strong publication record, excellent experimental and analytical abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
Funding is provided according to the Yale Postdoctoral Compensation policy, aligned with university/NIH-related guidelines, and conference travel support may also be available.
To apply, email Dr. Choukri Ben Mamoun at [email protected] with a CV, a brief statement of research interests and career goals, and contact information for three references. No explicit application deadline is listed in the post.
