About this position
Postdoctoral Associate position in the Structural Biology Department at the University at Buffalo (SUNY), in the United States, working in the lab of Prof. Andrew Gulick.
The Gulick Lab studies the structural enzymology of proteins involved in the biosynthesis of bacterial natural products. The project combines structural biology, protein biochemistry, enzymology, biophysical analysis, genome mining, biocatalysis, and structure determination using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy.
The postdoctoral associate will work on protein production and purification, biochemical assay development, informatic and genome-mining analyses, protein structure determination, data analysis, and publication/dissemination of results.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field; background in protein biochemistry, enzymology, biophysical analysis, or structural biology; ability to analyze, publish, and present research data; self-motivation and ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred experience: natural product biosynthesis, pathway reconstitution, genetic manipulation, small molecule isolation/characterization, LC-MS, HPLC, X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and computational tools for protein structure analysis.
Funding: NIH-funded position with a salary range of $55,000-$65,000.
Deadline: Open until filled.
