About this position
This postdoctoral associate position in the Ni Lab at Virginia Tech focuses on the study of thermosensory systems in insects. The researcher will investigate molecular, cellular, and circuit-level mechanisms across multiple insect species, contributing to a project that spans sensory biology from the molecular scale to neural circuits.
The role is designed for an independent and collaborative researcher who can contribute to peer-reviewed publications and external presentations while working closely with laboratory members and external collaborators. The project sits within a research environment that emphasizes transdisciplinary discovery at Virginia Tech and is connected to the university’s broader life-sciences and research community.
The advertised work centers on thermosensation and insect neuroscience, with techniques and analyses that include electrophysiology, calcium imaging, microscopy, molecular biology, computational analysis, and potentially connectome and molecular dynamics approaches. The preferred experience with Drosophila suggests that fruit fly genetics and neurobiology may be part of the broader experimental framework.
The position is hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, within a major research university environment that highlights collaborative scholarship and professional development. The postdoctoral researcher will join a lab-based project at the intersection of neurobiology, sensory systems, and insect model organisms.
