About this position

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow in Bayesian Computation within the School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science. The role is based at Gardens Point, Brisbane, Australia, with a hybrid work option available.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of statistical methods based on Bayesian recalibration techniques using flexible transforms of surrogate models. The research will be benchmarked on applications involving intractable likelihoods and computationally expensive stochastic simulators, including large-scale agent-based models in biology, ecology, and epidemiology.

This is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral position for two years. The advertised remuneration is AUD$137,608 to AUD$163,427 per annum, inclusive of salary, superannuation, and recreation leave loading.

Applicants must hold a PhD in computational statistics or a relevant discipline. The post also asks for expertise in computational statistics, Bayesian statistics, and/or statistical machine learning, strong communication skills, a record of high-quality research publications, independence, teamwork in multidisciplinary settings, and the ability to co-supervise higher degree research students. QUT also highlights its commitment to equity, diversity, and Indigenous Australian engagement.

Applications close on 27 September 2026 at 11:30pm. Interested candidates should apply via the QUT recruitment portal using the job details link provided in the advert.
