About this position

Weill Cornell Medicine is advertising a postdoctoral fellow position in the J. Cubillos-Ruiz and D. Morales Laboratory for research at the intersection of immunology, microbiology, nutrition, and immunometabolism.

The project focuses on how intestinal dysbiosis and enterococcal translocation influence immune responses, especially myeloid cell function and fitness in the intestine and distal organs. The fellow will investigate how diet and other nutritional perturbations modify these host-microbe interactions, with an emphasis on macrophage biology, tissue immunity, and mechanistic experimental work.

The position is jointly mentored by Dr. Juan R. Cubillos-Ruiz and Dr. Diana K. Morales in a collaborative research environment. Responsibilities include developing hypotheses, designing and executing experiments, maintaining rigorous records, applying statistical analyses, and contributing to manuscripts, abstracts, figures, and grant applications.

Required background includes a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field. Strong experience in immunology and microbiology is expected, especially in immunometabolism, nutrient signaling, or metabolic regulation. The post also asks for experience with dietary interventions, murine models, multicolor flow cytometry, immune cell isolation, primary cell culture, functional immune assays, qPCR, immunoblotting, and ELISA. Transcriptomic, single-cell, or other high-dimensional immune-profiling experience is desirable.

The appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of reappointment. The stated salary is $75,812, and employee benefits are provided. Visa options may include J-1 and H-1B pathways.

The position is based at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, New York, United States. Applicants should submit a CV, a brief research statement, and contact information for three professional references.
