About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Infection Immunodiagnostics and Immunopathogenesis

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral fellow for Dr. Jagjit Yadav’s Immunopathogenesis/Immunotoxicology laboratory. The project focuses on immunology research in mycobacterial lung disease, with emphasis on identifying immune determinants, epitopes, immunopeptidomes, and immunogen-specific host biomarkers associated with disease pathogenesis.

The successful researcher will investigate antigen presentation and immune mechanisms underlying disease, with the long-term goal of developing differential diagnostics and disease-specific biomarker assays. Methods include seroreactive protein arrays, immunopeptidomics, recombinant and synthetic immunogen generation, immunoassays, lymphocyte immunophenotyping, flow cytometry, single-cell omics, molecular cloning, and multiplex assay development. Experiments may use in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models, including mouse models and patient biospecimens such as blood, sputum, and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.

Responsibilities include designing and analyzing experiments, conducting B- and T-cell epitope discovery, validating candidate immunogens, profiling immune responses, maintaining research records, contributing to manuscripts and grant reports, presenting scientific findings, collaborating across immunology, microbiology, immunoproteomics, and assay-development teams, and supporting laboratory operations.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in immunology, infection microbiology, or a related life-sciences field before appointment. Experience with immunological, microbiological, or molecular biology techniques relevant to infectious or immune lung disease, vaccinology, immunoassays, flow cytometry, epitope discovery, immunopeptidomics, T-cell activation, or recombinant expression is desirable.

The position offers a salary commensurate with experience and University of Cincinnati employee benefits, including health coverage, tuition remission eligibility, retirement contributions, paid leave, parental leave, and professional development support. Apply through the University of Cincinnati applicant portal and email a CV to [email protected].
