About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Scorletti Lab (Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine), Baltimore, Maryland, United States.
The lab of Dr. Eleonora Scorletti is recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on lipid metabolism, gastroenterology/hepatology, and the cellular mechanisms linking naturally occurring genetic variants to liver and adipose tissue biology. The project combines recall-by-genotype studies, deep clinical phenotyping, and human cellular models, with strong emphasis on translational research and metabolic health/aging.
The successful candidate will lead work using iPSC-derived hepatocytes, organoids, and other in vitro systems, contributing to experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, and new research directions. Strong hands-on skills in mammalian cell culture and molecular/cellular biology methods are expected, including Western blotting, PCR/qPCR, immunostaining, and microscopy.
Highly desirable experience includes iPSCs, organoid models, and computational analysis with R or Python. Familiarity with AI tools for coding and analysis is also noted as a plus. Applicants should hold a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, physiology, or a related field, or expect to receive the degree by the start date. A first-author peer-reviewed publication is required.
This is a full-time postdoctoral fellowship with a salary range of $63,480–$77,076 depending on the year the PhD was received. The lab also highlights mentorship, scientific writing and grantsmanship support, help with F32/K99 applications, and funded travel to national and international conferences.
