About this position

Karolinska Institutet’s Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in organization and leadership in healthcare and academia. The position is based in the research group Leadership in Healthcare and Academia at the Solna Campus in Sweden.

The project focuses on governance, collaboration, management, public organizations, cross-sectoral coordination, and interprofessional organizing, with an applied interest in how this knowledge can be used in healthcare and academia. The role combines research, teaching, collaboration with society, and contribution to educational initiatives linked to equal opportunities for merit within academia.

Key duties include participating in ongoing projects on management and governance of public operations, leading and supporting data collection in Swedish through participant observation and interviews, communicating findings in Swedish, preparing manuscripts, publishing in international journals, helping drive projects forward, and seeking external research funding.

Eligibility requirements are substantial: a doctorate in business administration or public administration; research experience in collaboration and cross-sectoral governance in complex public operations; research on professions and interprofessional organizing; very good Swedish and English communication skills; collaboration ability; structured and independent working style; documented teaching and supervision experience in organization and leadership at undergraduate and advanced levels; experience with public-sector collaboration; and basic higher education pedagogy training (at least 5 weeks).

Meritorious qualifications include a strong publication record in reputable international journals, peer-review experience, experience communicating research to professional audiences in the public sector, teaching in commissioned education, participation in external grant applications, and work on educational initiatives for equal merit opportunities in academia.

This is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral employment with monthly salary under collective agreements. Applications are submitted via the Varbi recruitment system.

What's required

Doctorate in business administration or public administration. Documented research on collaboration and cross-sectoral governance in complex public operations, including between professions, politics, administrations, levels within the public sector, and/or external actors. Documented research on professions, organizational professionals, and interprofessional organizing. Very good oral and written Swedish for data collection, and documented ability to communicate science orally and in writing in English. Good collaboration skills, ability to work structured and independently, documented teaching and supervision experience in organization and leadership at undergraduate and advanced levels including thesis supervision, documented research or development work with public organizations, and basic higher education pedagogy training equivalent to at least 5 weeks. Meritorious: strong publication record in reputable international journals, peer-review experience, communication of research-based knowledge to professional audiences, teaching in commissioned education, experience developing research applications, and work on equal merit opportunities in academia.
