About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia.

This is a postdoctoral research opportunity in the School of Physics, working in the astrophysics group led by Prof Dennis Stello. The project focuses on asteroseismology, especially solar-like oscillations, with research connected to space-mission data from Kepler/K2/TESS/Roman/Gaia and ground-based surveys such as Galah/APOGEE/LAMOST. The role also involves developing and applying software tools for analysis and merging of large multi-dimensional datasets, publishing in leading journals, presenting at conferences, and contributing to mentoring/supervision of graduate and Honours students.

Location: Sydney, Australia. Duration: 2 years fixed term, with a possible 6-month extension depending on performance and funding. Salary: $118K-$126K plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Astrophysics with a focus on stellar astrophysics and asteroseismology, have strong experience in advanced data analysis and stellar modelling, and demonstrate an excellent publication record and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

How to apply: submit an online application via the UNSW careers portal and address the selection criteria in the position description. Applications close on 2026-10-26.
