About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity in Thoracic Head & Neck Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX).

The Gardner Lab is seeking multiple postdoctoral fellows to study mechanisms of cancer development, with a strong focus on lung cancer tumorigenesis, lineage plasticity, therapeutic resistance, chromosomal instability, and the earliest stages of cancer progression. The lab is embedded in the Department of Thoracic Head/Neck Medical Oncology and the James P. Allison Institute, with a joint appointment in the Department of Genetics.

Research uses genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs), organoid and organotypic cultures, high-resolution imaging, single-cell approaches, and related molecular and quantitative methods to understand how airway damage, cells of origin, and innate/adaptive immune responses shape cancer initiation, progression, and recurrence. The group collaborates broadly across the United States and offers a highly interactive, supportive training environment.

Ideal applicants have recently earned a PhD and/or MD in cancer biology, physiology, immunology, proteomics, quantitative biology, or pharmacology, and have less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Strong communication, record keeping, teamwork, independence, and a publication record are emphasized. Experience with GEMMs is preferred but not required; skills in molecular biology, flow cytometry, mammalian tissue/organoid culture, microscopy/imaging, and data analysis/visualization are especially relevant.

The position is full-time and offers a salary of $64,000-$76,000 depending on postgraduate experience, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, paid time off, retirement, tuition benefits, and educational opportunities. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV or NIH Biosketch, and three letters of reference with contact information to [email protected].

Location: Houston, Texas, United States. Application: Apply via the job posting and email the requested materials to the lab contact. No deadline was stated in the post.
