About this position
Johns Hopkins University is hiring a Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist in the AIRO Lab for research on fixed-wing aerial robots, safe vision-based flight, machine learning, computational control, motion planning, and computational physics.
The lab is looking for a highly motivated candidate to help develop highly agile robotic systems that can operate in changing environmental conditions and challenging fluid flows. Research directions highlighted in the posting include GPU-accelerated safe stochastic feedback motion planning for agile flight, machine learning for vision-based navigation in uncertain dynamic environments, and control of agile autonomous vehicles governed by complex fluid flows.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Strong experience in computational control, motion planning, machine learning, and agile robotic dynamics is expected, along with solid software development skills, especially C++ and CUDA. Experience with robotic hardware, particularly aerial robotic systems, and mentoring junior researchers is also desired.
Funding: this is a full-time postdoctoral fellowship / research scientist role with a salary range of $63,480 to $100,000 per year.
Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States.
How to apply: submit an application through Interfolio using the provided portal link. The position is open until filled, so early application is advisable.
