About this position

The Cybersecurity Group at United Arab Emirates University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on AI-enabled binary analysis and cyber threat intelligence. This one-year (extendable) fellowship offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and classical program analysis to address critical challenges in malware detection and IoT security. The research aims to develop a robust platform that integrates state-of-the-art AI capabilities with proven classical methods for machine code (binary) analysis, establishing experimental benchmarks and delivering a comprehensive binary analysis infrastructure.

The project supports the AI-Enabled Search Engine for Cyber Threat Intelligence initiative, which processes approximately 3.0 TB of daily passive measurements to identify and characterize Internet-scale compromised IoT devices and botnets. The research is crucial for strengthening the UAE’s cybersecurity posture and advancing global IoT security research. The position is led by Dr. Saed Alrabaee, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at United Arab Emirates University.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong academic record and research excellence. Required technical expertise includes deep learning, binary analysis, reverse engineering tools (IDA Pro, OllyDbg, Ghidra, Binary Ninja), programming skills in Python, C/C++, IoT and Android expertise, and experience in system building. Applied cryptography knowledge is favorable. Candidates should demonstrate strong research aptitude, ability to write high-quality research papers, and preferably have publications in top-tier security conferences or journals. Advanced programming proficiency, sophisticated coding skills, deep reverse engineering expertise, theoretical foundations in security, collaborative research experience, and open source contributions are highly desirable.

The position offers a salary range of 10,000 to 15,000 (currency not specified) for a one-year term, with the possibility of extension. Interested candidates should apply through the university job portal before the closing date of 25 February 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cybersecurity research and help protect critical infrastructure.
