A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University, supervised by Professor Salva Salmani-Rezaie. The research focuses on advanced electron microscopy techniques to study atomic-scale structure and defects in materials and interfaces relevant to superconducting and semiconducting qubits. The successful candidate will work at the Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis (CEMAS), utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and collaborating across disciplines.

Key research areas include transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), electron ptychography, electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), and scanning electron microscopy/electron backscatter diffraction (SEM/EBSD). The project aims to correlate structural and chemical features with superconducting and electronic properties, and to develop advanced data analysis workflows for large microscopy datasets.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, or Applied Physics, with a strong background in TEM/STEM characterization, experience with EELS, diffraction contrast, 4D-STEM/ptychography, and proficiency in data analysis tools. Strong collaborative communication skills are essential.

The appointment is fully funded for an initial two-year period, with the possibility of renewal.
