About this position

Postdoctoral position in food technology with specialisation in dairy and membrane processes at Lund University, Sweden.

The position is based in the dairy group at the Division of Food and Pharma, in close collaboration with the membrane group at the Division of Chemical Engineering. The project focuses on food technology, dairy technology, membrane processes, and process engineering for the circular utilisation of by-products from dairy production.

Research topics include membrane-based separation and concentration processes such as ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and electrodialysis; recovery and reuse of components from dairy by-products; processing of protein-rich fractions; and the relationship between process conditions, composition, structure, and functionality of milk and whey proteins. The work also examines how these factors affect the quality, texture, stability, and nutritional value of fermented dairy products.

This is a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral appointment for two years. The role is research-focused, with teaching allowed up to 20% of working hours. The position includes three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. Work will involve laboratory- and pilot-scale experiments, sample preparation and analysis, data interpretation, scientific writing, project meetings, and collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

Eligibility requires a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject. Applicants should have very good English, practical experience with membrane processes, experience planning and documenting laboratory work, and experience analysing and presenting experimental data. Strong analytical skills, a structured approach, and good teamwork skills are important. Additional advantages include experience in dairy technology, protein structure and functionality, analytical methods for food or colloidal systems, statistical experimental design, modelling, programming, multivariate data analysis, pilot-scale trials, industrial collaboration, and a Category B driving licence.

The application deadline is 4 October 2026 at 21:59 UTC. Applications must be submitted in English through Lund University’s recruitment system and should include a CV with publication list, a personal letter, degree certificate or equivalent, and any supporting documents you wish to provide.
