About this position

Postdoctoral position in plant molecular biology and RNA splicing at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, Sweden.

The project is hosted by Professor Markus Schmid in the Department of Plant Biology. The research focuses on the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of Arabidopsis thaliana RNA splicing proteins, using a high-throughput PPI screening method developed by the group. The broader goal is to understand how temperature affects splicing capacity in plant cells and to identify factors that modulate splicing in response to temperature.

This postdoc is relevant to candidates interested in plant molecular biology, plant genetics, functional genomics, cell biology, genomic methods, and environmental stress responses. The lab works on RNA splicing, temperature acclimation, and sustainable agriculture, with model systems including Arabidopsis.

Funding: The position is fully funded. The initial appointment is for 24 months with the possibility of extension.

Eligibility highlights: A PhD in molecular biology, molecular genetics, functional genomics, cell biology, or a related equivalent field is required. Applicants should have a strong background in plant molecular biology, solid experience with molecular biology methods and plant genetics, and prior experience with protein-protein interaction analysis. Experience with RNA splicing, genomic methods, or plant temperature responses is an advantage. Excellent scientific English and a strong publication record are expected; preference is given to candidates with a PhD awarded within the last three years.

Application window: Apply by 30 June 2026.

Interested applicants should submit their application through the SLU vacancy page and follow the online application instructions.
