Experience with OpenFOAM, Nek5000, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, COMSOL, or fusion engineering codes such as FESTIM, VertexCFD, and OpenMC is preferred.

What's required
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent experience in nuclear, mechanical, or chemical engineering, engineering physics, or a related field completed within the last 5 years. Required experience includes Python, C, and/or C++ programming; demonstrated use and extension of CFD codes for nuclear or similarly complex thermal energy systems; familiarity with open-source CFD codes such as OpenFOAM or Nek5000 and/or commercial codes such as STAR-CCM+, ANSYS, or COMSOL; knowledge of finite element simulation methods; and experience with parallel Linux computing platforms, job submission scripts, GitHub or similar repository tools, and parallel visualization software such as ParaView. Preferred experience includes agentic workflows, GPU computing, AI methods for CFD/FEM, multiphysics code integration, and fusion engineering codes such as FESTIM, VertexCFD, or OpenMC. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also preferred.
