About this position

The Zhang Lab in the Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is seeking a postdoctoral research associate for interdisciplinary research in contemporary chemical biology and drug discovery.

The project will investigate how lipid metabolism interacts with membrane structures and biocondensates. The researcher will develop experimental platforms to study these relationships and uncover guiding principles for membrane signaling. The work combines chemical biology, lipid biochemistry, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry.

Key research activities include pharmacological investigation of chemical probes and drugs in cell-based assays, as well as the development of new chemical modulators of lipid-metabolizing enzymes. These modulators will serve as chemical probes and potential leads for drug discovery. The lab’s chemical tools will also be used to dissect interactions among lipid metabolism, membrane structures, and biocondensates and to support the development of diagnostic and therapeutic options for disease.

The postdoctoral researcher will join a multidisciplinary research environment within the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy, a leading academic center for pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.
