About this position

Northeastern University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct independent research in the Barecka Lab in Boston, Massachusetts. The project focuses on the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide into ethanol and is supported by an externally funded grant aimed at developing transformative technologies.

The postdoctoral researcher will design, plan, and execute experiments that advance the project’s scientific and technological goals, with particular emphasis on timely progress toward scale-up and commercialization. The work involves electrochemical testing, experimental data generation and analysis, and the application of analytical chemistry tools such as nuclear magnetic resonance, gas chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry.

Working in consultation with Professor Barecka, the researcher will contribute to regular laboratory discussions, literature review, scientific conferences, publications, progress reports, presentations, manuscripts, and patent applications. The role also includes communication with project sponsors and participation in professional development activities within Northeastern’s research environment.

The position combines electrochemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, analytical chemistry, and sustainable carbon-conversion research within Northeastern’s R1 research enterprise.
