About this position
This postdoctoral position at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is based in the College of Science, Mathematics/Statistics Sciences, and sits within a research environment that emphasizes computational and collaborative work. The project focuses on numerical methods for partial differential equations, with a particular emphasis on finite element methods in both theory and implementation.
The successful candidate will work on applied mathematical modeling problems arising in solid and fluid mechanics, contributing to one or more active themes in the project. These include multi-component flows with regularized phase-field models, porous media flows and their modeling/computation, PDE-based modeling of cancer development and treatment, and other PDE-based models under development or planned. The work involves both analysis and computation, with an expectation that the researcher will help advance the scientific direction of the project through regular discussions with the PI and collaborators.
Alongside research, the role includes developing and optimizing parallel finite element and numerical simulation codes, designing and documenting computational experiments, and presenting results at conferences and collaborative meetings. The position also includes scholarly writing and grant-development support, such as preparing manuscripts, technical reports, proposal materials, and documentation of computational methods. The researcher will additionally help mentor graduate and undergraduate students and support the organization and maintenance of the research group’s code and documentation.
The appointment is at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, a Hispanic-Serving and Minority-Serving Institution within the Texas A&M University System, providing access to a broader research network and a campus environment that supports research and collaboration.
