About this position
Northeastern University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Nutritional Immunology to join the Okeke Lab in the Department of Biology in Boston. Led by Dr. Emeka Okeke, the lab investigates how nutrition and bioactive molecules influence immune function, inflammation, and host–microbiome interactions.
The postdoctoral researcher will lead an interdisciplinary project focused on the anti-inflammatory properties of a bioactive, dietary-derived peptide. The research will define how the peptide modulates immune responses and inflammation at the intersection of nutritional immunology, biochemistry, microbiology, and gut microbiome science.
The project will involve characterizing peptide bioactivity through in vitro and in vivo experiments, dissecting interactions between the peptide and immune cells, and examining how dietary-derived peptides shape the gut microbiome. Research activities may include peptide quantification and analysis, immune-cell studies, microbiome profiling, and work with rodent models of inflammation or dietary intervention.
In addition to conducting independent research, the postdoctoral associate will contribute to research papers, presentations, and grant proposals, support laboratory management, and help train graduate students. The position offers an opportunity to work within an active, interdisciplinary research team alongside lab members and collaborators at Northeastern University.
