About this position
Northeastern University’s Dong Theoretical and Computational Chemistry Lab is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to develop and apply computational methods for understanding multiscale processes and accelerating chemical discoveries in renewable energy, biomedicine, and other societally important areas.
The research combines first-principles-based approaches with data-driven methods. Potential projects include multiscale simulation of quantum mechanical properties in macromolecules, integration of quantum chemistry with machine learning, quantum algorithms for computational chemistry on quantum computers, and computational studies of catalysis and photochemistry. Researchers may also contribute to the design of photo-active proteins and macromolecular catalysts, or pursue other projects aligned with the lab’s interests.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct original research, prepare and co-author publications, present findings at conferences and meetings, contribute to research proposals, manage research data and software, and assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The lab offers a multidisciplinary research environment spanning theoretical chemistry, computational science, catalysis, photochemistry, machine learning, and quantum computing.
