About this position

The University of Nottingham is recruiting a postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow in Neuroethics, Policy and Governance, based in the School of Computer Science on Jubilee Campus in Nottingham. The researcher will work within the Brain Data Group and the international €4.4 million European ELEVATE NeuroAI project.

The project examines best practices for studying emerging AI-enabled neural engineering technologies and responsible pathways for translating them from research into real-world organisational settings. The successful researcher will lead qualitative and implementation research while contributing to work across institutional governance, ethics, stakeholder engagement and real-world evaluation.

This opportunity sits at the intersection of neurotechnology, responsible AI, digital health, implementation science, human-computer interaction and qualitative research. The researcher will help develop practical frameworks and recommendations for the adoption and governance of emerging technologies, working with an international consortium and partners across several European countries.

The role is supervised and mentored by Dr Max L. Wilson and includes the opportunity to develop an independent research profile, contribute to existing research projects, and guide and mentor junior members of the Brain Data Group. Research themes may include neuro-AI, brain-computer interfaces, neuroethics, policy, governance and the organisational implementation of neural technologies.
