About this position

The University of Bristol is recruiting two postdoctoral Research Associates/Senior Research Associates to join Dr Eunice Lo’s UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship team and the Climate and Health Research Group.

The Futureproof project develops weather-health prediction science to strengthen the climate resilience of the NHS. The successful researchers will analyse weather forecasts, climate datasets, human health and healthcare data; run environmental-epidemiology models; and produce weather-health forecasts and projections for short- and long-term futures.

Research will focus on extreme events including heat, cold and storms, as well as the health impacts of unprecedented extremes under different climate-change and socioeconomic scenarios. The post-holders will collaborate with academic and external partners, including the Met Office, NHS, Cabinet Office and national public-health agencies, and will contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conferences, outreach and policy-relevant outputs.

Applicants should have a PhD or postdoctoral research experience in meteorology or climate and health, experience analysing weather, climate and/or health data, strong Python and R programming skills, and an interest in interdisciplinary quantitative research involving data science, epidemiology and public policy.

The positions are open-ended with fixed funding for three years, full time at 35 hours per week. Salary is £40,704–£45,641 at Grade I or £45,641–£51,258 at Grade J, depending on experience.
