About this position

Boise State University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Applied Magnetics and Photonics Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Karthik Srinivasan in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The project focuses on biomedical sensor development, especially multiplexed electrochemical biosensors for high-resolution detection of drugs, biomarkers, and antigens in complex biological samples. The research combines magnetism, nanomaterials, protein electrochemistry, and advanced electrochemical detection schemes to improve sensitivity, selectivity, and sensor longevity.

Research activities include fabricating and testing biosensors, performing electrochemical oxidation/reduction studies, synthesizing and characterizing nanoparticles, developing spin-selective sensing schemes, and evaluating limits of detection in complex analytes. The role also involves interdisciplinary collaboration with the Biomolecular Research Center, mentoring students, and contributing to publications and grant proposals.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field. Strong candidates may have experience in microfabrication, electrochemical sensing, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, nanoparticle synthesis, protein binding assays, SEM/TEM, spectroscopy, and data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, OriginPro, or R.

Funding: this is a paid postdoctoral position with a salary of $55,057.60–$62,232 per year, commensurate with experience. The appointment is expected to start in July 2026 and last about 1.5 years, with possible extension depending on performance and funding availability. Boise State also advertises employee benefits including a tuition fee waiver for employees and dependents.

How to apply: prepare a cover letter, CV, contact information for three references, and representative first-author publications. Follow the instructions in the job ad and submit through the official application portal.
