About this position
The University of Nottingham is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the ERC-funded WATER-BLIND project, which investigates how plant roots sense and respond to water stress.
The research will use the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana to identify novel genes and regulatory pathways involved in sensing water availability. A central focus is understanding how ion fluxes and mechanosensing pathways contribute to root adaptation to transient water stress.
The project is suited to researchers interested in mechanosensing, ion signalling, root development, water stress, molecular cell biology, root biology, and plant developmental biology. The work builds on recent discoveries concerning root water-stress responses and will provide an opportunity to study molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying plant environmental adaptation.
The postdoctoral researcher will join the University of Nottingham’s biosciences research environment and work in connection with Poonam Mehra’s laboratory and its activities in plant root biology and water-stress sensing.
