About this position

CIPADE – Indústria e Investigação de Produtos Adesivos, S.A. is offering one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD) within the CORKBIND R&D Project (Project No. 17782 / Operation COMPETE2030-FEDER-01341900). The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Portugal 2030.

The research focuses on developing sustainable, high-performance binders for cork agglomeration using renewable raw materials. The selected researcher will contribute to the definition, testing, optimisation, and validation of the proposed solution, while helping consolidate the scientific and technical knowledge needed for future industrial application.

Main tasks include technology watch and state-of-the-art review, defining technical specifications, preparing and executing preliminary trials, performing experimental tests, supporting optimisation, monitoring solution testing, taking part in validation trials, analysing results, identifying improvements, and supporting dissemination and project management activities.

The work will be carried out mainly at CIPADE in São João da Madeira, Portugal, with some activities at project partner facilities when justified, including Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisboa) and SEDACOR.

Eligibility is targeted at candidates with a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific field. Prior experience in ester synthesis from natural-origin components and in characterization techniques such as FTIR and TGA is required. Good English is requested, and non-Portuguese applicants must meet the relevant residence authorisation requirements in Portugal.

The fellowship follows the Portuguese Research Fellowship Holder Statute and FCT fellowship regulations, with a monthly maintenance allowance according to applicable FCT rates.
