About this position
Northwestern University is advertising a one-year postdoctoral research opportunity in environmental science and policy research and education. The position sits at the intersection of science, engineering, policy, sustainability, and education, with a strong emphasis on building interdisciplinary pathways for students and researchers.
The postdoc will help bridge science research, education, and policy at Northwestern by conducting benchmarking and gap analyses of national- and university-level programs, supporting the design of an undergraduate-focused event, and contributing to the development of new educational initiatives. The role also includes convening and managing a university working group, designing syllabi for new courses, supporting new course materials, and preparing a peer-reviewed manuscript on interdisciplinarity in scholarly research and the impact of interdisciplinary scholarship.
Additional responsibilities include supporting proposals to funding organizations related to science policy education and research, and addressing emerging needs as they arise. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of research and/or outreach at the science/engineering-policy interface, leadership experience, publication experience, strong communication skills, and comfort with project management tools. Social media engagement is welcomed, and Python skills are desirable but not required.
The position is based at Northwestern University in the United States. Salary will be determined by degree and experience. Candidates must be able to start on or ideally before October 1, 2026. The application deadline is May 15, 2026.
