About this position
CEA Grenoble is advertising a postdoctoral research position in electrochemistry, materials science, and battery research focused on the development of a reliable reference electrode sensor for sodium-ion batteries.
The project addresses key challenges in Na-ion battery performance, ageing, and safety by designing and validating a novel electrochemical sensor for in situ and operando characterization. The successful candidate will work on sensor design, cell instrumentation, cycling tests, data analysis, and post-mortem examinations such as SEM, EDX, and ICP to correlate sensor measurements with degradation phenomena.
The research will be carried out at the Electrochemical, Post-Mortem & Safety Analysis Laboratory (LAPS) at CEA Grenoble, within the DEHT department of CEA-LITEN. The work is multidisciplinary and involves collaboration with LEDNA (IRAMIS) at CEA Saclay, which will contribute to the synthesis of materials used for the reference electrode sensor.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, have strong experimental electrochemistry skills, and ideally experience with sodium-ion batteries. Strong analytical ability, teamwork, autonomy, and excellent English communication skills are required.
Funding and duration: this is an 18-month postdoctoral contract. The post is a research employment opportunity; the announcement does not specify salary or stipend details.
Application: candidates should submit a cover letter and a detailed CV including publications via the application link. The announced start date is 01/10/2026.
