About this position

Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in translational immunology at the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York City, United States.

The project is in Dr. Emmanuel Zorn’s lab and focuses on the mechanisms underlying chronic rejection after human kidney transplantation. Research will examine graft-infiltrating immune cells, circulating graft-reactive antibodies, and subtypes of rejection using well-characterized human transplant specimens and clinical samples.

This is an NIH-funded postdoctoral opportunity in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with affiliations across multiple departments and research centers at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Experimental approaches include primary human cell culture, ELISA, ELISPOT, protein assays, RNA-seq, single-cell genomic approaches, flow cytometry, in vitro immunoassays, gene expression analysis, and functional cell-based assays.

Eligibility highlights: recent PhD in Immunology, Molecular Medicine, or a related field; documented research experience; at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal; strong communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects; creativity and independence. Experience with immune cell isolation/culture and flow cytometry is highly desirable.

How to apply: email a full CV, one-page cover letter describing research interests and career goals, and the names/contact information for three references to the PI at [email protected]. Deadline: 29 Nov 2026.
