About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Adipocyte Cell Cycle Reactivation and Senescence at Karolinska Institutet (Solna, Sweden).
This postdoctoral project sits in the Spalding research group at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB), with a strong focus on human adipose tissue biology, cell signalling, cell cycle biology, senescence, metabolism, and DNA replication/remodelling. The project investigates how mature human adipocytes re-enter the cell cycle under chronic hyperinsulinaemia, why the response differs between adipose depots, and how this maladaptive process may be redirected to reduce senescence and inflammation.
The successful candidate will work with human adipose tissue biopsies and primary human adipocytes, combining cell and molecular biology, imaging-based methods, and computational approaches. The lab has access to imaging, flow cytometry, single-cell and bulk omics, and proteomics platforms, and benefits from strong clinical collaborations in Sweden and internationally.
Eligibility and profile: a PhD (or equivalent) is required by the employment decision date. Strong experience in cell signalling and/or cell cycle biology, immunocytochemistry/immunohistochemistry, time-lapse and confocal microscopy, and computational/statistical analysis is expected. Background in adipose tissue biology, metabolism, senescence, or DNA damage/replication biology is a strong advantage. Good English and the ability to work independently in a collaborative setting are important.
Funding and employment: this is a temporary full-time postdoctoral employment at Karolinska Institutet. No stipend amount is given; the position is salaried under KI collective agreements.
