About this position
Colorado State University’s Grid Modernization Initiative within the Energy Institute is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to advance AI-enabled microgrids and resilient energy systems for critical infrastructure.
The researcher will develop and evaluate optimization, control, and data-driven methods for microgrids, distributed energy resources, and energy storage. The work will also involve power-system models and digital twins developed through offline or real-time simulation, measurement data, and reproducible computational workflows.
Application areas include data center energy systems and the integration of small modular reactors. The researcher will investigate reliability, resilience, contingency response, and resource integration, while collaborating with CSU faculty and students, federal agencies, national laboratories, and industry partners.
The role also includes preparing technical reports, sponsor deliverables, research proposals, and project publications, coordinating activities with project partners, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The position is based at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a project visit to Cordova, Alaska.
