About this position
University of Hradec Králové (Faculty of Science, Department of Physics) is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in cosmology, modified gravity, and gravitational physics.
The project is centered on fundamental and phenomenological aspects of gravity and cosmology, with possible research directions including modified theories of gravity, black holes and compact objects, gravitational waves, dark matter models, strong-field tests of general relativity, black-hole perturbations and quasinormal modes, gravitational lensing, and observational signatures of physics beyond general relativity.
The position is full-time, on-site in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, with a 3-year duration and an expected start date of 1 January 2027. The gross monthly salary is 46,000 CZK plus bonuses.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in physics, astronomy, applied mathematics, or a closely related discipline completed before the start date. Strong expertise in cosmology, general relativity, modified gravity, gravitational physics, or relativistic astrophysics is required, together with analytical and/or numerical research experience, a competitive publication record, independence, collaboration skills, and excellent English. Czech is not required. Experience in gravitational-wave modelling, numerical relativity, cosmological data analysis, or scientific computing is an advantage.
The successful candidate will work under the joint scientific supervision of Professors Jan Kříž, Filip Studnička, and Bekir Can Lütfüoglu. The role also emphasizes international collaboration and links with European groups and networks in gravitational physics and cosmology.
To apply, send the required documents by e-mail to [email protected] before 2 October 2026. Informal enquiries about the scientific scope can be directed to [email protected].
