About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in EU Health Innovation Law at Université Bourgogne Europe in Dijon, France, within CREDIMI UR 7235 and the BRIDGE consortium.
This full-time, 24-month postdoctoral position is part of a Horizon Europe funded project under the Innovative Health Initiative. BRIDGE focuses on designing and operationalizing health regulatory sandboxes for breakthrough health innovation. The project addresses innovations that may not fit easily within existing EU regulatory pathways, including medicines, medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, advanced biotechnology products, SoHO-related products, combined products, and digital or AI-based health solutions.
The successful candidate will join the local BRIDGE team at UBE and work closely with the BRIDGE Legal Team. The legal research will concentrate on the EU law framework for health regulatory sandboxes and contribute to work on legal triage, cross-sectoral coherence, contractualisation, exit and continuity, competitive equilibrium, liability and risk repartition, legal limits of flexibility, and ethics and patient protection.
Main duties include monitoring EU and international legal and doctrinal developments, carrying out legal research and literature reviews in EU health law, pharmaceutical law, digital regulation, and innovation governance, drafting internal notes and deliverables, supporting the analysis of overlaps between sectoral frameworks, preparing and following up meetings, assisting scientific coordination, and contributing to dissemination through publications and policy-oriented outputs.
The research methods are doctrinal and comparative legal analysis, mapping of EU regulatory frameworks, structured literature review, ideation sessions, multidisciplinary co-creation, and drafting of legal outputs. The project is structured in phases: initial familiarisation and legal mapping, a core period of legal analysis and deliverable production, and a final period devoted to consolidation, recommendations, dissemination, and publication.
The position is supervised by Prof. Mathieu GUERRIAUD and involves close interaction with the CREDIMI team, the BRIDGE consortium, regulators, health technology assessment bodies, research organisations, industry partners, and other European stakeholders.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Law or equivalent doctoral qualification is required before the expected start date in November 2026. Strong EU law knowledge is essential; experience in health law, pharmaceutical law, innovation law, digital law, AI regulation, or public law is highly desirable. Excellent French and English are required at C1–C2 level.
Funding and conditions: the contract is a full-time public-law postdoctoral contract for 24 months, with a salary floor of €2,271 gross per month. Remote work may be possible according to UBE rules and service needs. The post is based in Dijon, France, at CREDIMI UR 7235, Université Bourgogne Europe.
Application deadline: 6 November 2026.
