About this position
This postdoctoral appointment at Prairie View A&M University is based in the Department of Civil Engineering and centers on geotechnical engineering research for infrastructure applications. The position focuses on interdisciplinary work in intelligent monitoring, resilient geotechnical systems, and transportation infrastructure, with an emphasis on using advanced data-driven approaches to understand and improve infrastructure performance.
The researcher will contribute to research publications and competitive proposal development while collaborating with academic and external partners. The role also includes supporting the development and operationalization of NCIT research laboratories, helping to plan, design, equip, and implement lab capabilities that support the broader research program.
A major part of the role is the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to geotechnical engineering problems, including prediction, risk assessment, infrastructure monitoring, and data analytics workflows built from field, laboratory, sensor, and infrastructure-monitoring data. The researcher will also supervise and mentor students, support seminars, workshops, and outreach activities, and teach courses as needed under departmental guidance.
The post is embedded in a research environment that values interdisciplinary collaboration, publication, proposal activity, and lab development within the university’s engineering research ecosystem.
