About this position
Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a two-year full-time project on the industrial application of humanoid robots.
The interdisciplinary research connects humanoid robotics with production systems, manufacturing, logistics, robot control, physical intelligence, digital representations, human-robot interaction, and organisational aspects of industrial automation. The project aims to move humanoid robots beyond laboratory demonstrations and study how they can operate as flexible and resilient participants in real industrial production.
The postdoctoral researcher will combine laboratory experiments with industrial use cases involving areas such as machine tending, kitting, line replenishment, and mixed-object handling. Responsibilities may include analysing industrial tasks and processes; developing evaluation methods and requirements; planning laboratory and industrial studies; designing use cases with industry partners; implementing control algorithms in simulation and on real humanoid robots; evaluating productivity, robustness, safety, flexibility, human factors, implementation effort, and environmental implications; and publishing research findings.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant area, including robotics, automation, production or industrial engineering, manufacturing systems, production logistics, human-robot interaction, computer science, industrial digitalisation, mathematics, or physics. Experience in robotics, machine learning, control, C++ or Python programming, ROS2, real hardware, simulation, empirical or experimental research, and interdisciplinary collaboration is sought. English fluency and a strong publication record relative to career stage are required.
The position is a full-time employee postdoc for two years and requires physical presence in Gothenburg. Chalmers employee benefits are provided; no specific salary is stated. Apply in English with a CV, complete publication list, teaching details, personal letter, research summary, and future research outline by November 30, 2026.
