About this position

Ghent University, a leading research institution in Belgium, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the research group of Professor Tom Taghon in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Diagnostic Sciences. The lab specializes in the functional characterization of molecular mechanisms controlling human T cell development, with a strong track record in high-impact publications and participation in the Human Cell Atlas Thymus Seed Network. The project focuses on investigating the development of alternative immune cell lineages within the fetal and postnatal thymus, aiming to chart the role of the thymic microenvironment in this process. State-of-the-art technologies such as multimodal single cell approaches (CITE-seq, scATAC-seq), spatial transcriptomics, and high-throughput imaging will be employed, making expertise or a keen interest in single cell and spatial data analysis essential. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, international team with access to lab technicians and a bioinformatician, and will benefit from extensive expertise in T cell development and single cell genomics. The position offers a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 1 year, extendable, and remuneration according to salary scale PD1. Strong enthusiasm for fundamental research, scientific interest in molecular genetics of immune cell development, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication and writing skills in scientific English are required.
