About this position
Ghent University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Philosophy of Science to contribute to the EU-funded Horizon Europe project EOSC-ARENA, or AI Research Enhancement through Networked Agents. The project is supported by the European Commission’s GenAI4EU initiative.
EOSC-ARENA aims to develop a sovereign, generative, and agentic artificial intelligence environment for scientific researchers, integrated with the European Open Science Cloud. The postdoctoral researcher will examine the impact of AI on scientific research and knowledge production while contributing practical expertise in large language model harnesses and workflows.
The role combines philosophy of science with advanced artificial intelligence research. The researcher will assist the principal investigators in investigating how large language models and agentic AI systems can be engineered, deployed, and applied to advance scientific knowledge. Relevant connections may include scientific domains such as mathematics, physics, and theoretical biology.
The position is based in the Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences at Ghent University and offers an interdisciplinary research environment spanning philosophy, AI, scientific methodology, and open science.
