About this position

Argonne National Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Devices and Experiments at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) in Lemont, Illinois, USA.

The project focuses on developing superconducting photonic quantum devices for a heterogeneous quantum network, including superconducting qubits and microwave-optical quantum transducers. The postdoc will design devices, fabricate them in the CNM cleanroom, and characterize them in CNM quantum labs, while collaborating with Argonne, UChicago, and external scientists on local and network quantum experiments.

Eligibility highlights: recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in experimental physics, engineering, or a closely related field; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative research environment; and alignment with Argonne’s values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

Preferred experience includes device nanofabrication, microwave and/or optical device measurement and characterization, quantum information science, superconducting qubits, microwave-optical quantum transducers, and operation of dilution refrigerators and other cryogenic systems.

Funding: full-time postdoctoral appointment with an expected salary range of $72,879–$121,465 plus comprehensive benefits.

How to apply: submit the application in Workday and upload a CV/resume, unofficial PhD transcripts, and a copy of the PhD diploma if already awarded. The posting does not list a deadline.
