About this position

Argonne National Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Appointee in Single Electron Qubits (NST) at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) in Lemont, Illinois, USA.

The project focuses on the development of single electron on solid neon qubits and aims to advance this emerging qubit platform by realizing high-fidelity two-qubit gates. The postdoc will design qubit devices, fabricate them in the CNM cleanroom, and characterize them in CNM quantum labs while collaborating with Argonne scientists and external partners on local quantum experiments.

Research areas and keywords: quantum information science, experimental physics, nanofabrication, superconducting devices, microwave characterization, cryogenic experiments, dilution refrigerator operation, electron qubit design and measurement.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in experimental physics, engineering, or a closely related field. Experience in experimental physics/engineering, nanofabrication, quantum information science, and/or microwave and superconducting device characterization is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative research environment are expected. Preferred experience includes superconducting qubits, low-temperature experiments, and electron qubit fabrication/measurement.

Funding: this is a full-time postdoctoral position with an expected salary range of $72,879–$121,465 plus comprehensive benefits.

How to apply: submit your application in Workday and upload a CV/resume, unofficial PhD transcripts, and a copy of your PhD diploma if already awarded. The posting does not list a deadline.
