About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher: Qubit Detectors @ Northwestern University

The Figueroa Group (Experimental Particle and Quantum Physics) at Northwestern University is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join the CosmiQ quantum sensing and computing initiative with Fermilab. The project focuses on cryogenic detectors, superconducting qubits, transmon-based qubits, qubit measurement, modeling, fabrication, and the interplay between radiation and qubits for sensing and fault-tolerant quantum computing.

The successful candidate will work with the Figueroa Group and collaborators at Fermilab, including the NEXUS and QUIET underground facilities. This is a research-intensive experimental role spanning quantum sensing, detector development, and quantum computing hardware.

Eligibility: A Ph.D. in physics is required. Strong backgrounds in experimental nuclear or particle physics, superconducting qubits and quantum computing, or experimental condensed matter physics are specifically mentioned.

Application: Submit a letter of interest and CV, and have at least two recommendation letters sent to the listed email address. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Location: Northwestern University, United States.
