About this position

RMeS at Nantes Université is offering a junior postdoctoral position focused on validating innovative biomaterials for bone regeneration in preclinical animal models. The project sits within a multidisciplinary translational environment centered on skeletal aging and regenerative medicine, with access to strong expertise in imaging, histology, biomaterials, biomechanics, cell culture, and molecular biology through the RMeS platforms ATLAN, BIO3, and SC4Bio.

The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative program involving Nantes, Basel, Lund, and Dhalion Biotech, aimed at advancing biomaterials toward first-in-man implantation. The work is designed to generate clinically relevant preclinical data and support regulatory and pre-industrialization steps for new bone-grafting alternatives. This makes the position especially attractive for researchers interested in tissue engineering, biomaterials validation, and clinical translation.

Research activities include project management and reporting, coordination with local and international partners, participation in animal ethics documentation, surgical preparation and assistance with veterinary staff, monitoring of animal recovery, live imaging support, and detailed explant characterization using μCT, SEM, FTIR mapping, nanoindentation, histology, and immunohistochemistry. The role also includes data analysis, report writing, conference presentations, and supervision or mentoring of students.

The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Dr. Baptiste Charbonnier and integrated into the RMeS laboratory at Nantes Université, in close collaboration with Oniris veterinary school in Nantes and partners in Lund and Basel. Training and sample processing at the University of Angers may also be required.

This is a 12-month full-time temporary contract with a gross salary of €2,700 per month. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in biology, biomaterials, or a related field, have prior experience characterizing biological samples, demonstrate strong English communication, and show excellent organizational skills. The position is aimed at junior postdoctoral researchers with 1–4 years of research experience and a strong interest in translational research.

Applications should be submitted by email with a CV, cover letter, and recommendation letters. The deadline is 2 November 2026 at 18:00 (Europe/Paris).
