About this position

Two postdoctoral researcher positions are available in the Joiner Lab at the University of Cincinnati. The openings are in structural biology / biochemistry and cell biology / molecular biology, with research focused on (1) the regulation of small GTPases in organelle homeostasis and neurodegenerative disease, and (2) the production of methane by anaerobic methanogens.

The lab uses a collaborative mix of protein biochemistry, in vitro reconstitution, structural biology, gene editing, fluorescence microscopy, and functional cell-based assays. The positions are designed for highly motivated researchers who want to pursue independent and collaborative projects in a mentorship-oriented environment.

Eligibility highlights: Position 1 requires a PhD in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, or a related field, plus extensive protein expression/purification experience. Position 2 requires a PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, plus strong cell culture and cell-based assay experience. Preferred experience includes cryo-EM, biochemical/biophysical assays, CRISPR/Cas methods, live-cell or quantitative imaging, and image analysis.

Funding: These are full-time postdoctoral positions, initially funded for 1–2 years with possible renewal based on performance and funding availability. UC also highlights competitive salary, tuition remission, retirement plans, health coverage, paid leave, and professional development support.

How to apply: Submit a statement of interest in the Joiner lab, a summary of past research experience and technical skills, broad research interests, career goals, a CV, and contact information for 3 professional references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.

Note: Current UC employees must apply internally through SuccessFactors. The position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
