Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Scientist Opportunities in Terrestrial Ecosystem, Land Surface, and Biogeochemical Modeling Boston College in United States

Boston College is advertising two openings at the Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Scientist level in terrestrial ecosystem, land surface, and biogeochemical modeling.

The positions focus on advancing coupled biogeochemical modeling and greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification using terrestrial biosphere models and multi-model ensemble analyses. Successful candidates will work with the Dynamic Land Ecosystem Model (DLEM) to study carbon and nitrogen cycles and to quantify emissions and removals of N₂O, CH₄, and CO₂ across terrestrial ecosystems, the land–aquatic continuum, and agrifood systems.

Research activities are connected to major international synthesis and model intercomparison efforts, including NMIP, TRENDY, WIE-MIP, and ISIMIP, and will support global and national assessments under the Global Carbon Project and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Earth System Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Geography, Hydrology, Computer Science, GeoAI, Remote Sensing, or a related field. Strong programming and quantitative skills are expected, with experience in C/C++, Fortran, Python, or R. Backgrounds in remote sensing, machine learning, data assimilation, or high-performance computing are especially welcome.
