About this position
Postdoctoral research in immigration policy, families, and children at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy. The postdoctoral scholar will join Professor Caitlin Patler’s research program focused on immigrant families, children, and communities, with work centered on the consequences of U.S. immigration policy.
The role is embedded within the Empirical Research Hub to Protect Children in Immigrant Families, co-led by Professor Chloe East at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in partnership with the Children Thrive Action Network. This setting connects the scholar to a broader, collaborative hub that supports research, communication, dissemination, and coordination across members and partners.
The scholar will contribute across three main activity areas:
- Causal research: original, peer-reviewed research using rigorous causal inference methods and large-scale data sources such as administrative data and surveys.
- Rapid-response policy research: timely analyses and accessible research outputs, including policy briefs and data summaries, in response to emerging policy developments.
- Scholar hub coordination: support for convenings, communications, dissemination, collaboration, and synthesis of research outputs across the hub.
The position offers mentorship and career development support from the project PIs and collaborators, along with opportunities for co-authored publications and engagement with policy and advocacy communities.
