About this position
The University of Iowa’s Carver College of Medicine is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar for the Theranostics Laboratory in the Division of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Radiology. The multi-year NIH T32 postdoctoral training position focuses on cancer theranostics, PET imaging, and targeted radioligand therapy.
The laboratory develops novel PET probes for managing widely metastatic cancers, including imaging agents that may detect therapy resistance in tumor lesions. It also develops radioligand therapies and evaluates these approaches in cellular and animal models. Research interests span medical science, chemistry, biology, molecular imaging, radiochemistry, tumor biology, and preclinical cancer therapeutics.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D. in biomedical or related sciences, with at least one year of bench research experience. Relevant backgrounds include Chemistry, Pharmacy, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, and Biomedical Engineering. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and should demonstrate strong English communication and writing skills.
Required technical experience includes sterile mammalian cell culture, histochemical staining methods such as immunofluorescence, RNA in situ hybridization or immunocytochemistry, basic chemistry, PCR and RT-PCR, and an interest in or experience with laboratory animals. Experience with 3D tumor spheroid cultures, chromatography, hybridization and radioligand labeling, and tissue dissection and processing is desirable.
The position is full time and based in person in Iowa City, Iowa. Salary is commensurate and benefits include health and dental insurance, 401(k), flexible scheduling, and paid time off. Applications require a CV, letters of interest, contact information for three references, and three reference letters. The position remains open until filled.
